We the Citizens of Chennai, a Tamil Nadu based organization, is organising a special program at IIT Madras on the 17th of August, 2024, in a move to inspire patriotism and honour the brave soldiers of the Kargil War. This event is part of a year-long series dedicated to remembering the 25th anniversary of the Kargil War, a crucial chapter in India’s military history.
The program will feature reflections on the Kargil War, focusing on the pivotal role played by Indian armed forces in securing the Line of Control (LoC) following infiltration by Pakistan. Veterans of the Kargil War will share their experiences and insights, highlighting the evolution of India’s defense infrastructure and the importance of youth in safeguarding the nation’s security.
Event Details:
• Date: 17th August 2024
• Time: 5:00 PM
• Venue: Main Auditorium, ICSR, IIT Madras
• Program Focus: “Reflections on the Kargil War: The Role of Youth and the Evolution of India’s Defence Infrastructure Since 1999”
The event marks the second in a series of initiatives designed to engage students and citizens across Tamil Nadu in a dialogue about the sacrifices made by our soldiers and the continued vigilance required to maintain the nation’s liberty.
Mr. R. Sankaranarayanan, Senior Advocate and former Additional Solicitor General (Southern Zone) is the Convenor of the event. The organizers are reaching out to educational institutions across Chennai, encouraging the participation of students from 9th to 12th standards. This initiative, which began on Kargil Vijay Diwas, 26th July 2024, aims to instil a sense of pride and responsibility in the younger generation, ensuring that the legacy of our heroes continues to inspire future leaders.
Media representatives are invited to cover this event, which is expected to see significant participation from students, citizens and veterans alike.
