THE HON’BLE CHIEF JUSTICE and
D.BHARATHA CHAKRAVARTHY,J
ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by the Hon’ble Chief Justice)
This Court passed an order on 01.3.2022 granting two weeks’ time to the contemner to comply the direction pending the contempt petition. It was at the request of the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent – contemner. At the time of passing the order dated 01.3.2022, it was clarified that if the order is not complied with by then, the contemner would remain present in court. The order passed by this Court dated 06.3.2020 has not yet been complied
though it was to be complied within four months.
2. Accordingly, a prima facie case is made out for passing orders
under the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971. It is more so when the
contemner is not present in court despite a specific direction to remain present if compliance is not made.
3. Therefore, to secure the presence of the contemner in court on 25.3.2022, let a bailable warrant for a sum of Rs.50,000/- (Rupees fifty thousand only) be issued on him, to be caused through the Commissioner of Police, Chennai. Let the petition be listed on 25.3.2022.
