Hon’ble Division bench of Madras High Court granted injunction from collecting penalty for import of car by Music Director Harris Jayaraj.

Vijayan Subramanian @lawyervijayan advocate for Harris Jayaraj submitted that the High Courts and Supreme court earlier dismissed the batch of cases and directed the Petitioner therein to pay the entry tax alone. It is submitted that Article 14 deals about right to equality. The right to equality provides for the equal treatment of everyone before the law but in the present case, Harris Jayaraj was directed to pay the entry tax and penalty and has paid the entry tax but imposing penalty is in violation of Right to Equality
