- Next story Isha Foundation only promoting govt.’s Krishi Aranya Protsaha Yojane of 2011 by mobilising farmers: State The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday asked Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev’s Isha Foundation to spell out the amount collected so far for their ‘Cauvery Calling’ project, besides questioning whether the foundation was authorised to collect funds for the project. A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka and Justice Hemant Chandangoudar directed the foundation to file its additional statements as the earlier statement filed did not contain details like the manner of fund collection and whether the contribution towards Cauvery Calling was voluntary or not. As the statement filed by the foundation did not contain the name of the ‘authorised signatory’, the Bench said that law mandates disclosure of details of persons filling statements before the court and orally observed that “even spiritual organisations are bound by law”.

- Madras High Court on Thursday cautioned that it will dismiss the missing person case against Jaggi Vasudev’s Isha Foundation if the petitioner, who moved the Court alleging disappearance of his brother, does not appear in court for hearing.

In the event of receiving any complaint regarding illegal mining operations, violation of the Act and the Rules, excess quarry etc., the Commissioner of Geology and Mines, the District Superintendent of Police and the District Collector, are bound to conduct a detailed investigation inquiry under the provisions of the Act and the Rules, and prosecute all persons apart from initiation of disciplinary actions against the officials, who all are responsible and accountable for illegal mining operations. The petitioner is at liberty to submit representations along with all necessary details to the officials. 18. With the above directions, the present writ petition stands disposed of.
