The contempt application filed against A. Shankar came up for hearing today before Hon’ble Mr. Justice Senthil Kumar Ramamoorthy. Mr. P. Wilson appeared for Thiru. V. Senthil Balaji. Elizabeth Seshadri, counsel for A. Shankar took notice in Court and undertook to file counter in the application. Case stands adjourned to 10/3

 

Thiru. Senthil Balaji, Hon’ble Minister for Electricity Prohibition and Excise has filed a contempt petition against A. Shankar (self styled Savukku Shankar) for violating the order of injunction granted against him by the Hon’ble High Court.
A suit was filed by Mr Senthil Balaji seeking for relief of payment of damages, permanent injunction restraining A. Shankar from making, printing, publishing, broadcasting, disseminating or circulating the statements, articles, pictures, cartoons, caricatures, sketches tweets and videos mentioned in the suit and other defamatory statements, articles, pictures, cartoons tweets and videos lowering the reputation of the plaintiff and to remove the suit mentioned defamatory videos and tweets.

By an order dated 23.08.2022, Hon’ble HC granted injunction restraining Shankar from making, printing, publishing, broadcasting, disseminating or circulating the statements, articles, pictures, cartoons, caricatures, sketches tweets and videos mentioned in the suit and other defamatory statements, articles, pictures, cartoons tweets and videos lowering the reputation of senthil balaji.

Despite order of injunction, Mr. Shankar has been habitually posted defamatory tweets and indulged in giving defamatory interviews against Thiru Senthil Balaji.

Hence Thiru Senthil Balaji has moved the HC seeking to punish A. Shankar for contempt of Court for disobeying the order of injunction.
