The Postgraduate department of Biochemistry, D.G.Vaishnav College conducted a one day International Conference – ICNIB 2020 on the theme “ Nutraceuticals as Immune Boosters” on 28/10/2020 on a virtual platform. A total of 450 participants including 35 international participants from from 8 different countries, namely Ethiopia, Malaysis, US, Somalia, Saudi arabia, Maldives, Finland and Nigeria attended the program. The Head of the department, Dr. P.T.Srinivasan welcomed the gathering and briefed the audience about the need for a discussion on the above theme.
The conference was inaugurated by Dr. S. Santhosh Baboo, Principal, D.G. Vaishnav College. The Principal expressed his concern over the prevailing Covid scenario in the country and around the world and congratulated the department for the choosing to discuss Nutraceuticals which is most relevant in the ‘ New Normal’ that we are living in. Our honourable Secretary Shri. Ashok Kumar Mundra ji has offered his felicitations to the ICNIB team for bringing together academicians, researchers and PG students for deliberations on such an important perspective in Covid prevention and cure.
Our Chief Guest, Dr. U.S. Mahadeva Rao is a Professor in Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Sultan Zainil Abidin, Malaysia delivered a talk on the theme. Invited talk on Avcado a boost of your health was delivered by Dr. Kalander Ameer, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry, School of Medicine, College of Health and Medical Sciences, Haramaya University, Ethiopia
The talks were followed by Q & A session in which the delegates participated actively. The conference concluded with an e-poster session on a range of topics including Natural products as antidiabetic agents, Role of Nanoparticles in diseases, Recent trends in Phytotherapy and Phytoremediation.
The concept, context and the knowledge of the speakers was widely appreciated by the delegates in their feedback.
