[4/7, 11:45] Sekarreporter: [4/7, 11:10] Sekarreporter: The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Thursday hoped that the Governor would take a decision at the earliest with regard to the Bill on implementing 7.5% horizontal reservation for government school students, who cleared National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET), in medical admissions.

A Division Bench of Justices N. Kirubakaran and B. Pugalendhi made the remark while hearing a batch of public interest litigation petitions which sought a direction to the State to implement reservation for government school students as recommended by the commission headed by retired High Court Judge P. Kalaiyarasan.

His acumen and foresight has benefited students who fulfilled their dreams of becoming a doctor to serve the local needs. His persistent endeavour saw that the government came up with the enactment providing for 7.5% reservations to down trodden students who were studying in government schools. Without his persuasive questions it is not known wether the government would have ventured into the difficulties faced by such students and coming up with such an beneficial enactment.
