Why not bring ED/CBI and IT under ECI control
[21/03, 16:20] sekarreporter1: It is the common practice of the ECI to temporarily transfer some DGPs and top bureaucrats during elections when the model code of conduct is in force. This is to create a level playing field to ensure that the bureaucrats who are close to the Government of the day are not able to have an impact on the sanctity of elections.

When the BJP has a track record of using the IT, ED & CBI to harass, hound and target the opposition in the past 10 years, should this rule not apply to the heads of these enforcement agencies as well?

Is it one rule for the States and one rule for the Centre?

The way the Income Tax Department has descended on the Congress party with single minded determination to obstruct its functioning during the elections show that it is still not free from the clutches of the party in power at the centre.

Similarly the ED is targetting the Aam Aadmi Party & its leader to satisfy its political bosses.

Therefore, I request the CEC & ECs to forthwith transfer the Director Generals of Income Tax Department, the Director of the Enforcement Directorate & the Director of the CBI till the polls are concluded & results announced to protect the purity of the electoral process & create a level playing field.

Conducting free & fair elections, a basic feature of our Constitution, is the mandate of the ECI. The ECI must not allow the festival of democracy to be polluted.

I hope that all parties across India will join hands in making the same request.
