[22/07, 14:41] sekarreporter1: Jaffer Sadiq has filed a petition to declare his arrest illegal, for not producing him before magistrate within 24 hours. It is argued by Mr N Ramesh on behalf of ED that Jaffer Sadiq was formally arrested in prison under PMLA case while he was in Delhi prison in NCB case. Therefore the rule of production of arrestee within 24 hours of arrest will not arise in the case of formal arrest. He was later produced by jail authorities before competent Court under PT warrant and he was duly remanded to judicial custody in PMLA case. Therefore it was argued that there was no illegality in arrest and petition is liable to be dismissed. However the Court has directed the ED counsel N Ramesh to file Counter.[22/07, 14:41] sekarreporter1: .
