[03/07, 16:25] sekarreporter1: Today, before the Hon’ble 1st Bench of the Madras High Court, Animal and Temple Activist – Advocate Elephant G Rajendran Sir appeared as Party-in-Person seeking restoration of about 39 tanks/ponds in Tiruvannamalai Town – the town in which Sri Aruchanaleswarar Temple and the Aruchanala Holy Mountain are situate.

He argued before the Court how these water bodies are of great importance to the holy town since there are no rivers running through the town or even adjacent to the place. Over the last 4 decades many of these tanks in this holy town have been systematically encroached under the "watchful eyes" of revenue officials and the @tnhrcedept

He produced some rare and old records showing the earlier presence 138 tanks in the holy town and its environs.

Hon'ble Bench of the Acting Chief Justice has now passed interim orders directing the Commissioner, Land Administration, Secretary, Public Works Department and the Secretary to Religious Endowments Department to file separate Status Reports concerning the missing/ Encroached tanks in Tiruvannamalai - after inspecting the places in person - A huge step in recovering the ponds/tanks.

Mr Rajendran is planning to file more cases - regarding a very big water body in Tiruvannamalai measuring 20 acres and having two ancient Mandapams encroached rampantly - and also regarding the encroachments on the Holy mountain of Arunachala and the forest therein.

If true Hindus come forward to support and assist him, Mr. Rajendran will take up more fights to recover lost Hindu Temple Assets - as he has been single handedly doing for many years now.
