[12/9, 17:26] Sekarreporter 1: The order of the Commissioner GST and Central Excise directing the Periyar University to pay service tax for granting affiliation to the colleges under it has been challenged in the High Court of Madras today (09.12.2021).

It was argued by senior counsel Mr. Isaac Mohanlal for the University that the University granting affiliation to colleges will not come with in the ambit of service and no service tax can be levied on that basis particularly when the University is a State University.
