Swamiji is the Founder and the head of Tulsi Peeth, which is a religious and social service organisation in Chitrakuta and the lifelong chancellor of the Jagadguru Rambhadracharya Handicapped University. The Swami who has mastered over 20 languages has written over 80 books including a version of Ramcharidamanas, is well-versed in Hindu religions works, is a winner of several awards including the Sahitya Akademi Award for Sanskrit and is a recipient of Padma Vibhushan in 2015. He deposed as an expert witness in Ayodhya Ramjanmaboomi case and described the boundaries of the Janmabhoomi as mentioned in the Ayodhya Mahatmya section of Skanda Purana, which tallied with the location of the disputed area, as noted by Justice Sudhir Agarwal. Dr. Bhurelal is another petitioner in this petition. He is a member of Supreme Court Monitoring Committee, worked with two Prime Ministers of the country as Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, was a Director of the Enforcement Directorate dealing with Foreign Exchange Regulation Act (FERA) and Secretary in Central Vigilance Commission. The other joint petitioners include reputed persons from academics in the fields of History, Archeology and Political Science, a doctor and a management professional.

[7/14, 16:51] Sekarreporter1: The petitioners have accused the Tamilnadu Government and the HR&CE Department of Tamilnadu of an attempt to dilute the provisions of Agama with the view to completely extinguish the Hindu Agamic knowledge systems that have been preserved and nurtured for thousands of years by Sages, Gurus and scholars.
[7/14, 16:51] Sekarreporter1: They have also contended that in Tamil Nadu temples, people from all communities are already working as Archakas depending on the customs and traditions of the temples. The government’s move to appoint Archakas defying temple traditions amount to interference in the religious affairs of Hindus.
