Mr. P. Wilson Senior Counsel assisted by Richardson Wilson, Advocate appearing for the petitioner submitted that the Vice Chancellor Dr. Velraj wanted to appoint Dr. J. Prakash as the Registrar of Anna University in the 268th meeting. However the syndicate did not agree with the VC and had directed that wide publicity should be given to the vacancy and a level playing field should be given to all candidates.

Today the Writ Petition filed by Mr. I. Paranthamen, MLA & Member of the Anna University Syndicate came up for hearing before the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Bharata Chakraborty of the Madras High Court.

Mr.

However in the next 269th meeting, again the VC brought a table agenda to appoint Dr. Prakash as Registrar. Again the Syndicate memebers had refused and had called for the files pertaining to the selection. Shockingly the VC has fabricated the minutes of the 269th meeting as if only 6 members objected and the majority supported the table agenda.

In his petition, Mr. Paranthamen states that 9/13 members has opposed the selection of Dr. Prakash since rules & statues of Anna University were not followed. The VC himself conducted an interview and awarded marks without any objective criteria to Dr. Prakash.

After hearing the submissions, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Bharata Chakraborty ordered notice in the matter and directed the Respondents to file counter. The Hon’ble Court also directed the Anna University to preserve the video recording of the 269th & 270th Syndicate meetings
