[23/07, 15:58] sekarreporter1: Today that is 22nd July 2024 the public interest litigation concerning Shri Rathina Vinayakar and Shri Durga Amman Temple white Road Chennai was listed before the first bench. It was submitted before the bench that both the temples exist from 1895 British records. Hence the temple is an ancient monument as it is more than 100 years old. CMRL ought to have done environmental impact assessment before commencing the project . Mr S Ravi appeared and argued for M Ramamurthy counsel for petitioners. The counsel for CMRL stated that they have constituted a three member expert committee to study the feasibility of having an alternate exit and entrance for this year moral station near the temple. He stated that it will take a week’s time for the expert committee to submit the report. Mr S Ravi senior counsel argued that he himself had visited the temple last Friday and drilling work and digging work is going on continuously affecting the temples structure. Hence The honorable division bench has granted interim injunction retraining Chennai Metro from continuing the work until the expert committee report is submitted. At the request of the Senior Counsel Mr. Jayesh B Dolia for Chennai Metro Rail permission was granted to do sampling work alone. The case has been further adjourned to next Tuesday
