[24/07, 13:01] sekarreporter1: P.Jyotibasu a farmer from Neyveli Cuddalore District had filed a Public Interest Litigation in W.P.No.20795/2024.

City compost that is fertiliser made by municipal corporations and local bodies from city garbage is sold at Rs.1500 to 3000 per ton.

But private manufacturers repack it as organic manure and supply to Primary Agriculture Coperative credit societies (PACCS)at Rs.25000 to 50000 per ton.

TANFED that is the nodal agricultural marketing federation of Tamil nadu like Tasmac compels all PACCS to buy and supply these manufacturers as 30% input credit while farmers avail interst free crop loan.

These interest free loans are actually provided by NABARD the central agro bank and distributed by PACCS.

The farmers are forced to take these overpriced city compost repacked as Organic manure at exorbitant prices.

Prayer is for Central Government to fix the fair price for these organic manure.

As per schedule IV of central Feriliser Control Order both City Compost and Organic Manure have same specifications.

The above matter came up before Honble Acting Chief Justice and Honble Justice K. kumaresh Babu First Bench.

Their Lordships ordered notice private notice to Respondents including Central Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation and Chemicals and fertilizers and the Central NABARAD Bank and state Government Agricultural and Cooperative departments and the TANFED returnable by three weeks.
