2017 RK nagar 89 crore cash to voters bribe case posted to 18.10.2023 by Chief Justice bench after hearing P.Wilson appearing for Marudhu Ganesh DMK candidate .
In RK Nagar elections when TTV stood as candidate in the April 2017 , 89 crore cash for voters accounts were seized in vijayabaskar residence and an FIR came to be filed at the instance of election commission of India. The election to RK Nagar constituency was countermanded by ECI. The documents showed the involvement of Edapadi Palanichamy, VijayaBasker and other ministers who handled cash disbursements to voters in RK Nagar Constituency .
Meanwhile on 18.4.2017 Election commission of India directed FIR to be registered for this cash for voters scam involving 89 crores. Interestingly FIR was quashed by justice Ramesh at the instance of third party and hence Marudhu ganesh moved the writ petition for CBI transfer and further investigation.
Marudhu Ganesh also simultaneously preferred a police complaint and also filed Writ Petition and asked for CBI investigation.
In Maruthu Ganesh WP , the Madras HC on 29.1.2020 ordered amendment of prayer to enable CBI to investigate the 89 crore bribe scam against then CM Edapadi Palanichamy and Vijay basker and others . As against order dated 29.1.2020 , SLP was filed by State police and SC granted stay of all proceedings.
