Today, the Hon’ble 1st Bench of Madras High Court passed directions to Secretary, Revenue Department, Secretary, Public Works Department, Commissioner of @tnhrcedept and Tiruvannamalai District Collector to remove all encroachments within 2 weeks and file an Action Taken Report before the Court.

Advocate Elephant Rajendran Ji filed a PIL to remove the encroachments around an ancient and holy Lake in Tiruvannamalai measuring more than 20 acres – Thamarai Kulam –

This lake has two ancient Mandaps where during an annual festival of Sri Arunachaleswarar Temple, the deities would be kept for dharshan and thousands would witness the procession and rituals. 

 The local administration and the misfits in the @tnhrcedept allowed the four sides of the lake to be encroached, did not take action against the pollution of the lake, against the occupation of the Mandaps.  

Because of this the annual festivals could not be celebrated in the Manadaps and the lake for many years now.

Today, the Hon'ble 1st Bench of Madras High Court passed directions to Secretary, Revenue Department, Secretary, Public Works Department, Commissioner of @tnhrcedept and Tiruvannamalai District Collector to remove all encroachments within 2 weeks and file an Action Taken Report before the Court.
