[7/24, 21:56] Wla Bangalore supriyஅ Subby Priya: Respected Sir

I am L.Subipriya, practising Advocate in Madras High Court (Previously in Prasanna ma’am office). I had filed a PIL vide WP No.30761 of 2022 in the case Subipriya Vs Union Of India and 2 Ors before the Madras High Court. I had appeared as Party-in-person in the above writ which came up for hearing on 24.07.2023.

I had filed the above writ seeking the Hon’ble court to consider my representation dated 10.08.2022 seeking to reform/amend section 66E of the IT Act, to enable the Act to effectively prosecute cyber based crimes such as non-consensusal dissemination of Intimate images commonly known as “revenge pornography”, sextortion etc. Further to reform /amend section 67 of the IT act defining obscenity which is vague and obsolete and not in conformity to contemporary community standards.

The above Writ petition was listed today before division bench comprising the Hon’ble Chief Justice and justice P.D.Audikesavulu. The Hon’ble court was pleased to pass orders directing the Central government to consider my representation and take necessary action within 6 months. I have been pursing the matter since 2020 by sending various representation to the government requesting them to reform the IT Act. Subsequently, I was constrained to file the above writ petition. Hence I require the support of your esteemed media to bring the above case to public notice in order to make the government more responsible to initiate the requisite action based on the above orders.
Further, as a practising advocate, this will be a great encouragement and appreciation of my hard work if this case is reported in your esteemed media.
I kindly request your good self to report the above case in your media.

Thank you sir
