The writ petition has been filed seeking Mandamus directing the Respondents to consult the Kattalai Thambiran for the conduct of upcoming Sani Peyarchi Festival 2023 on 20, December, 23. The Govt. Of Puducherry had unilaterally constituted the Special Committee for conduct of the Festival without any consultation with the Kattalai Thambiran which is illegal and improper. Hence, Commitee needs to be reconstituted based on consultation with the Kattalai Thambiran. The Hon’ble Court has directed the District Collector who is the Special Officer to file an action taken report on the representation given by the Petitioner and posted the case for hearing on 23.11.23.
