Mr. Zahir Hussain, Advocate practicing before the madras high court was arrested and detained under the COFEPOSA Act on the allegation that he was involved in smuggling of imitation stones. His detention order was challenged before the Madras High court. On hearing the marathon arguements of Mr. A.Abdul Hameed, senior advocate (whose name was recommended by the Supreme Court for appointment as an judge and which is pending consideration before the Central Government from feb, 2022), the Hon’ble Division Bench of Madras high Court headed by Hon’ble Justice Mr. M. Sundar and justice Mr.shakthivel quashed the detention order and directed to release Mr. ZAHIR HUSSAIN, Advocate forthwith.
