The Hon’ble  Mr. Justice S.VAIDYANATHAN  and  The Hon’ble Mr. Justice A.D.JAGADISH CHANDIRA     H.C.P. No.297 of 2022.   While it is the duty of the court to see that any individual, who crosses the boundaries carved out by law is dealt appropriately, it is also the foremost duty of the courts to uphold the dignity of personal liberty. Taking cue from the above judgements and having found that the detenue has been kept in illegal detention for 128 days, we direct the State to pay a sum of Rs.5,00,000/- to the detenue Tmt. Muthulakshmi w/o Thiru. Manokaran residing at North Nalliyanthottam, Velipalayam & post, Velipalayam police station limit, Nagapattinam taluk, Nagapattinam District, to the detenue towards compensation within 6 weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order and such amount can be adjusted towards any amount which may be awarded to the detenue by way of damages in the event of the detenue filing any Civil Suit.  With the above observation and direction, the Habeas Corpus Petition is closed.                                                                       (S.V.N.,J.)      (A.D.J.C.,J.)                                                                                     21.09.2022     Index: Yes/No  ssk.
