LOK ADALAT CONDUCTED BY
HIGH COURT LEGAL SERVICES COMMITTEE

As per the directions of the Hon’ble Executive Chairman, Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority and Hon’ble Chairman Mr. Justice D. Krishnakumar and Hon’ble Judges of the High Court Legal Services Committee (HCLSC), Lok Adalats are planned and organized by the State Legal Services Authority, simultaneously in all Taluks, Districts and by the High Court Legal Services Committee, in the High Court campus, on a pre-fixed date on specific subjects, with an ultimate goal to reduce the pendency of cases in courts.
Today i.e. on 8.7.2023, as per the directions, Land Acquisition matters were taken up as specific subject. In addition to writs and appeals arising out of LAOP cases, Civil Miscellaneous Appeals, Writ Petitions (labour & service), etc., were also listed for disposal.
Five Adalat Benches consisting of Hon’ble Mr.Justice Mohammed Shaffiq, Hon’ble Mr.Justice J.Sathya Narayana Prasad, Hon’ble Mr.Justice V.Lakshminarayanan, Hon’ble Mr.Justice K. Rajasekar and Hon’ble Mr. Justice B.Gokuldas (Retd), were constituted at Principal Seat and Two Adalat Benches consisting of Hon’ble Mr.Justice R.Vijayakumar and Hon’ble Mr.Justice P.Dhanabal were constituted at Madurai Bench.
As a preparatory measure, the Hon’ble Chairman and Members of the High Court Legal Services Committee organized consultative and review meetings with the Secretary and other officials of the State Government Departments to guide them towards the maximum disposal during Lok Adalat. Further, multiple interaction meetings were held with the departmental officials, Government Pleaders, Officials from Insurance Companies along with counsel appearring for claimants wherein one-to-one interactions were made to boost the morale of the stakeholders tasked to organize the Lok Adalats. As a result of such earnest efforts taken by the Hon’ble High Court Legal Services Committee, large number of Advocates, litigant public, Officials from various Government Departments and Insurance Companies, both Government and Private, actively participated in the Lok Adalat held today both at Principal seat as well as at Madurai Bench.
The Hon’ble Mr.Justice D.Krishnakumar, Chairman, HCLSC, handed over an award of compensation for a sum of Rs.1,44,00,000/- (Rupees One Crore Forty Four Lakhs only) passed by the Hon’ble Lok Adalat Bench, to the beneficiaries.
The Hon’ble Chairman has appreciated the efforts put in by the Government Officials, Government Pleaders, Advocates, Government and Private Insurance Company officials and other stakeholders for their participation in the Lok Adalat.

Tmt.K.Sudha, Secretary/District Judge, HCLSC made all the arrangements for effective conduct of the Lok Adalat.

o In the Lok Adalat held today, totally 17 five year old cases were disposed of i.e., 16 cases before the Principal seat and 1 case before the Madurai Bench.
