SC Collegium recommends to the Centre to appoint Andhra Pradesh CJ Prashant Kumar Mishra and senior advocate K V Vishwanathan as Judges of the SC. Justice Mishra will be the first from Chhattisgarh (his parent HC) to become a SC Judge.

SC Collegium recommends to the Centre to appoint Andhra Pradesh CJ Prashant Kumar Mishra and senior advocate K V Vishwanathan as Judges of the SC. Justice Mishra will be the first from Chhattisgarh (his parent HC) to become a SC Judge.

 

Vishwanathan, on appointment as Judge, would go on to become CJI on August 12, 2030, after retirement of Justice J B Pardiwala. He would be CJI for nearly a year and retire on 25 May 2031. Among present judges of the SC, Justice P S Narasimha was appointed directly from Bar.
