The Hon’ble Executive Chairman, National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) had directed to hold National Lok Adalats on 11.02.2023, on 13.05.2023, on 09.09.2023, on 09.12.2023 of this year. Today, (13.05.2023) 2nd National Lok Adalat were held on all subjects matters across the State.

As per the guidance of His Lordship Hon’ble Mr. Justice T.Raja, the Acting Chief Justice, High Court, Madras/Patron-in-Chief and Executive Chairman of TNSLSA had directed all the Legal Services Institutions across the State to hold National Lok Adalat today i.e 13.05.2023 (Saturday) in all the Courts in the State of Tamil Nadu.

As per the directions of the Hon’ble Mr. Justice R.Mahadevan, Judge, High Court of Madras/Chairman, High Court Legal Services Committee has constituted 4 benches at the Principal Seat of High Court, Madras consisting of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sunder Mohan, Hon’ble Mr. Justice K.Kumaresh Babu, Hon’ble Mr. Justice P.B.Balaji, Hon’ble Mrs. Justice K.Govindarajan Thilakavadi and 1 Bench for State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission consisting of Hon’ble Mr.Justice G.Chockalingam Retired Judge, High Court, Madras and at Madurai Bench of Madras High Court has constituted 3 benches consisting of Hon’ble Mrs. Justice S.Srimathy, Hon’ble Mr. Justice K.K.Ramakrishnan and Hon’ble Mrs. Justice S.Ananthi Retired Judge of High Court, Madras as Presiding Officer of Lok Adalat.

 

 

 

In all the District Legal Services Authorities and Taluk Legal Services Committees across the State 434 benches were constituted and cases disposed off as detailed below as at 6.00 P.M.

Major Cases and award amount:
1. Cheque dishonoured cases numbering 1,489¬ have been settled among the parties by negotiation and the award for the value of Rs.130,88,90,803/- have been distributed.
2. Motor Accident Compensation cases numbering 1,912 with regard to accident claims have been settled and the award amount of Rs.102,00,70,027/- has been distributed to the parties.
3. Civil cases numbering 794 have been settled among the parties for the award amount of Rs.42,47,69,462/-
4. In Matrimonial disputes (except divorce), parties were called for negotiation and 119 cases have been amicably settled.
5. Labour disputes numbering 38 cases have been settled and the award amount of Rs. 1,30,72,809/- have distributed to the parties.
6. Five years and above old cases numbering 605 have been settled.
