A criminal defamation complaint filed by cinema financier Bothra, against Puthiyathalaimurai television channel in 2017 was quashed by the Honourable Highcourt by Hon’ble Mr Justice N. Sathishkumar Upon hearing the arguments of Senior advocate A. Ramesh for Dr V. Venkatesan, Advocate.
The main contentions of the arguments are as follows:-
Proper person is not added as the party.
The complainant is no more so he cannot be present physically to appear for case.
Complainant’s power of attorney cannot adduce evidence for the complainant.
Through various judgements by this Honourable court similar complaints of the complainant were quashed etc.

Based on which the defamation complaint which was pending against Puthiyathalaimurai channel in GT court was quashed by the Highcourt.
