PEARLS OF WISDOM (LATEST JUDGEMENT)* The *Hon’ble Justice R. Suresh Kumar* allowed W.P. No. 24797 of 2022 filed by VSB Educational Trust and directed UGC to independently consider and pass orders on the application of the Petitioner College for autonomous status and observed as follows:-

The *Hon’ble Justice R. Suresh Kumar* allowed W.P. No. 24797 of 2022 filed by VSB Educational Trust and directed UGC to independently consider and pass orders on the application of the Petitioner College for autonomous status and observed as follows:-

1) As per the decision of the Hon’ble High Court, Madras in Annapoorna Engineering College -vs- Anna University (W.P. No. 7377/2021) and the decision in _“The Anna University -vs- Mahendra Institute of Technology & another”_ (W.A. No. 51 of 2021) which was confirmed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in SLP (C) No. 8324, 8325 of 2020, the UGC can independently process and pass orders on the application of the colleges for autonomous status based on the UGC Regulation, 2018.

2) Therefore, the Hon’ble High Court was pleased to direct the UGC to independently process and pass orders on the application of the Petitioner college for autonomous status within a period of 4 weeks after conducting necessary inspection and considering the report of the affiliating University which is to be submitted within one week.
