Greetings.
The Madras Bar Association is the oldest Bar Association in the Country established in the year 1865. In its period spanning over 158 years, the Association had taken several initiatives for the independence of judiciary on the judicial front not just once but on innumerable occasions including challenging the dominance of Executive in setting up the Tribunals offending the independence of judiciary. Also, the Association is a front runner for the welfare of the Advocates by rolling out welfare schemes, initiatives, Seminars, activities and relief measures more particularly during the times of exigencies and natural calamities.
The Madras High Court is one of the three Chartered High Courts in the Country and has one of the largest Bench strengths in the Country. There have been more than one Judge hailing from the Madras High court in the Bench of the Hon’ble Supreme Court at any given time. Even in the recent past the Supreme Court of India had three Hon’ble Judges from Madras High Court in its Bench. But presently it has been reduced to one. The Madras Bar has always produced a great number of eminent jurists who have served the legal fraternity with utmost distinction. The members of the Judiciary hailing from the Madras High Court have rendered yeoman service to the legal fraternity and have held the flag of
