The relief sought for in the present is to direct the respondents 1 and 2 to assign the (Guide Line Rate) GLR value in respect of the land comprised in Cadastre No.517/1, 517/2 & 517/3 corresponding to R.S.No.43/1 Villianur Revenue Village.
- The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the respondents made a submission that the subject property belongs to the temple namely Sri Muthuluvazhiamman Temple.
- In respect of the temple land, the petitioner cannot seek any assignment as a matter of right. If at all the petitioner claims title or ownership, he has to approach the Competent Court of Law for the purpose of establishing his title. Contrarily, High Court cannot confer any civil right in a writ proceeding and more so, the relief sought for to assign the GLR value cannot be granted.
- Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands dismissed. No costs.
