Today the petition filed by AIADMK MLA and Former Minister Thiru. C.Vijayabaskar to reject the election petition filed by the DMK candidate Thiru M.Palaniappan was dismissed by Hon’ble Mr. Justice C.V.Karthikeyan of the Madras High Court.

The Election petition was filed by the DMK candidate Thiru. M.Palaniappan challenging the election of Thiru C.Vijayabaskar in the 2021 Assembly elections on various grounds including bribery of voters, use of government machinery for campaigning and other corrupt practices.

Thiru. C.Vijayabaskar had filed an application to reject the election petition without trial. In the said application, Mr.T.V.Ramajunam, Senior counsel appeared for Thiru.C.Vijayabaskar and Thiru. Richardson Wilson appeared for M.Palaniappan. After hearing the arguments, the Hon’ble Judge has dismissed the Application filed by C.Vijayabaskar and held that there are sufficient grounds to hold trial in the matter and accordingly had posted the case for trial.
