250 FARMER FAMILY MEMBERS WHO WERE THROWN  OUT OF THEIR MARKET SHOPS AT KOVILPATTI, TUTICORIN DISTRICT, TAMIL NADU IN THE NAME OF “kALAINGAR NAGAR PURA MEMBATTU THITTAM.

 

  1. 250 Farmer/vegetable seller family members knocked the doors of the Hon. Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court and the Hon. Court directed the collector to give an alternative location for the poor vegetable-selling farmers.
  2. An unknown person with political reasons filed a Public Interest Litigation at the Hon. Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court before Hon. Justice M. S. Ramesh and Hon. Justice P.T. Asha, both passed the order that stopped 250 poor vegetable-selling farmers not to function in their market place and also passed an interim injunction that restrained the vegetable vendors to run the private market illegally at Kovilpatti, Tuticorin District, Tamil Nadu.
  3. The 250 family members under the organisation called “Kovilpatti Vattara Motham Matrum Sillarai Viyaparikal Matrum Kaikani Urpathiyalarkal Nala Sangam” approached the Hon. Supreme Court of India today to stay the impugned order passed by the Hon. Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court. Dr. B. Ramaswamy as the leading arguing counsel argued this matter in SLP No. 14548/2023 at Court No. 5 of the Hon. Supreme Court of India. The bench consisted of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Surya Kant and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Dipankar Datta. After the 45minutes long argument, the Hon. Supreme Court of India issued notice to the Tamil Nadu Government and stayed the order of the Hon. Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court and brought great relief to the poor vegetable market vendors at Kovilpatti, Tuticorin District, Tamil Nadu. Dr. B.
